FYI

We're working on a gallery of some great speedpaint work.
If you get a request, it's because we'd like to have your work in the gallery. It adds a "Found in these Groups: #speedpaintart" on your deviation if you accept.

JOINING
If you'd like to join, just click "join this group" above. You don't have to put a reason :)

GALLERY SUGGESTIONS
You may only suggest one painting per week for the gallery, so choose wisely. We do not feature just any ol' speedpaint. Our gallery is for inspiration and study. If you don't feel your piece does that, check out our affiliates for places to submit your work and find inspiring challenges. We're a bit snoody, but not too snoody.

We also aim to have some level of diversity, so we try not accept everything Bob Ross (or any other individual) has ever made. Though sometimes it's hard to resist.

Does this group collect sped-up works at all? Or just speedpaints in the traditional sense?

Adobe Photoshop [link]
Painter [link]
Artrage [link]

those are the most popular and professional for speed painting. (there are more though)

Gimp [link] is also good AND FREE! So try that.

Do you have a tablet? if you don't, you will HAVE TO buy one. Painting with you mouse is close to impossible. The only good tablets are from Wacom [link]

look for the Wacom Bamboo if you are on a budget.

hope that helps!

I am looking through some of the artwork on here and I am wondering if this group is for digital speed painters or fine arts speed painters. Perhaps it is for both. I don't see too much going on in this group right now:)

It's for both! We rarely get traditional submissions though and I haven't had much time to browse to find some to add to our galleries :(

Speedpainting---Where should I start? From what I have been reading online, I guess just go for it? Does anyone know of workshops or tutorials that would help a beginning speedpainter who is not new to painting?

theres a load of mini tutorials on deviantart under 'resources and stock images'.

...and heres some stuff by one of my favourite speeders on DA - [link]
...now that i think about it, take a look at [link] - soem stuff is free, some isnt, but worth a look too.
hope thats of some use at least

I've been meaning to gather some great resources for speed painting, but I have yet to! Everyone seems to have different approaches so I've only got basic tips atm.

Brushes are important. They can help with making various things quickly like foliage or texture, though knowing how to use the basic brushes is important too: [link]
